They were pushed out of society because the government tricked them into sending their children to school. This school was to change them into a white man and make them forget about their heritage. They made them cut their hair, change their dress code, change their first name into christian names, and translate their last names into English. Under the Sub title Luther Standing Bear. "All the students were given Christian first names." Also "Along with his new name came a new look. His long hair was cut short. His leggings and moccasins were taken away, replaced by an itchy wool uniform and black boots that squeaked with every step." This shows they were stripped from their Indian cultures also it shows what they were before they entered the school and now how the white man's culture changed them.

The reason why she wrote this article is she wants to tell how Native Americans live now that it's not what people think. She wants people to know that she is a normal teenager. She lives in a house, wear jeans and live in a community where everyone knows everybody. Their reservation is surrounded by mountains and a river. They have farm animals. They pass down traditions this is important to them. Like how to hunt, fish, weave, and bead work. They have a tribal language. College life is different there are not many Native Americans who attend college. But she is learning from other classmates and she teaches them her culture. She wants to prove that someday she will be a vet and help on her reservation.

Great Job Jeremy. Just don't hesitate to show me your work in class. Independently work is something you have to get used to and there is always room for improvement. Keep it up.
